Today's Friday Find may not be anything new to you, but it is new for the Bozzo family. We have recently adopted a child through Compassion International. I had heard about Compassion Interantion through the Proverbs 31 Ministries site. Many of the women whose blogs I follow have sponsored a child. At the She Speaks Conference this year they spoke about adopting a child through Compassion. There was an information table there where you could choose a child and begin sponsoring. At the time I had texted my husband and had asked him about it but he wasn't sure. Then two months later at the Men's Wildfire Weekend at Thomas Road Baptist Church, they also gave a pitch for Compassion International. There were people walking around the audience with sponsor packets.
My husband took a packet.
So now our family is sponsoring Ermita Handayani Tanjung from Indonesia. She is 10 years old. For a mere $38.00 per month, she will be provided with Bible teaching, medical checkups, food, activities, tutoring in English and compluter classes. Her parents will also be provided with resources to help them as well. In the past we have had exchange students in our home and we enjoyed that. This is different. This is a long term financial committment. We will also communicate with her.
But it feels right.
It really feels good to be able to do something tangible for someone.
